"URL" and "Detailed Information" The Difference - WebCal

Back To Support Index

When you get to the bottom of the Add Entry page of the WebCal, you will have see the form fields in the picture above. These field let you add a lot of information to your calendar with very little work. There are a few things you need to know about these fields, once you know them you will be able to add informative files that link from the calendar event title.

  1. Event:   The "event" field is where you will enter the title of the event that you want to appear on the calendar.
  2. URL:  The "URL" field is an optional field that allows you to make the Event Title that you entered above into a link to another web page. Either a web page on your site (i.e. http://www.yoursite.com) or an external page (i.e. http://www.webantsdesign.com). When you enter a website address into this field it will turn your Event Title into a link automatically.
  3. Detailed Information:  The "Detailed Information" field is also optional. sWhen you type information into the "Detailed Information" field WebCal will automatically create a file that is linked from the title of the event you are adding to the calendar. If you know HTML you can use it in this box to jazz it up a bit.
  4. Important!  While both the "URL" field and the "Detailed Information" field are optional you may use only one field per calendar entry. If you use both fields the "URL" field will overide the "Detailed Information" field and you will have a link to the website you specified. The problem comes in when WebCal creates an information file that is not linked to the calendar in anyway, therefore cannot be deleted by WebCal during the automated delete function. If you do this often you will create a lot of files on your server that will never be accessed and will have to be manually removed from the server.
